DESCRIPTION:CISV National will hold its annual National Board Meeting (NBM)\, the National Youth Board Meeting (NYBM)\, and the CISV In Motion Conference from October 14th to the 16th in Pittsburg\, PA. \n\nThe NYBM has a maximum of ten youth participants per chapter. The Brandywine Valley Junior Branch by-laws specify that the JB president and JB vice-president shall have two slots as this meeting is for JB leadership activities and leadership education. The other eight slots shall be awarded on a first come basis to any interested JB member ages 13+. \nAdult Members\, the CISV In Motion Conference starts on Friday\, the 14th\, and is open to all. The conference is full of workshops\, activities and socializing with the greater CISV USA organization. All 21 chapters send representatives. It’s informative and fun! SUMMARY:Earth Day Sidewalk Chalk Event
DESCRIPTION:Brandywine Valley CISV is participating in a Sidewalk Chalk Event sponsored by the West Chester Green Team and West Chester University.   This event is to raise awareness about Earth Day and sustainability efforts in general.   This is a great event to meet people and talk to them about CISV! \nThe whole day is 9 am – 5 pm on Friday\, April 22nd (Earth Day) with a rain date of April 23rd. Our organization will be assigned an approved site in front of businesses/organizations in the West Chester Borough. At 11 am\, at WCU\, there will be an unveiling of WC Green Team’s yard sign for ’22 and presentation of awards\, at the corner of S. High St. and University Ave.  Between 11 am and 5 pm\, attendees can stroll up and down S. and N. High St.\, from University Ave to Marshall St.\, to admire chalking on environmental themes by local organizations and WCU students. \nSpecifically\,  we are looking for a few volunteers to help with the chalk art from 9 am-11 am\, artistic talent is a plus but not required!   We would also like a few any time  from 11 am – 5 pm to man the chalk art location to talk to any passers by who are admiring the artwork.  We will supply chalk and BV CISV materials.  Volunteer for as little or as much as you can spare.  Please RSVP.  \nAs this is a school day\, it will be difficult for JBers to participate (they are of course welcome) but anyone with a little free-time in the day\, please consider this!  Janet is looking for some alumni to participate! \n  \n

We will be baking cookies together (virtually) and giving them all to Valley Youth House. After the cookie baking\, we will have a mini-activity for the JB\, too! \nWhat cookies should I bake? This is the link to the chocolate chip cookies that most people will be baking\, but here is a link to a gluten free option as well. If you really want to make a different kind of cookie\, you are absolutely free to do so but please make sure it is nut free (very important!) and takes about 45 minutes to cook so you can join the activity we have planned for after with everyone else. \n\nWhy – It’s important to think of everyone this holiday season during such a difficult year and giving back to our local community is a great way to do so. \nWhen – December 19\, 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm \nWho – Anyone who registers! DESCRIPTION:Tired of the cold? In to good music. \nBV CISV is happy to announce our first Concert for Peace (and it’s a fun fundraiser to boot)! \nJBers and adults are invited to attend and be entertained by Paul Colombo\, a musician based outside of Philadelphia. Paul is a versatile guitarist\, composer and vocalist who has performed and recorded with Grammy winners such as Neil Sedaka\, Peter Nero and The Delfonics\, and American Idol winner Taylor Hicks. \nFor BV CISV\, Paul will play a variety of musical genres\, including jazz\, folk and a lot of rock on his acoustic and electric guitars. We are also excited to announce that Paul will be playing a set of songs from the CISV playlist! so come on out and sing-a-long to your favorite CISV lullabies.  \nThis is a BV event for adults\, JBers and guests. Hosts Mark and Debbie Shryock will be providing some light snacks and soft drinks\, but please feel free to bring your own as well. \nSpace is limited so you must register above to secure your seat! Due to the limited seating\, we respectfully ask that you name each person in your party when registering. Unfortunately\, we can’t allow walk-ins (non-registered attendees) due to space constraints.
