SUMMARY:Chapter Mini Camp
DESCRIPTION:Follow the Yellow Brick Road\n\nto our 2024 Chapter Mini-Camp in the Land of Oz\n\nWe are happy to be able to offer a Chapter Mini-Camp to our BV JBers at Innabah Camp & Retreat Center.\nAs an organization dedicated to inclusivity\, CISV Brandywine Valley welcomes youth with all experiences and backgrounds. \nCheck in is on Friday\, January 19th\, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Camp ends on Sunday morning\, January 20th\, at 11:00 am. \nInnabah is just north of Chester Springs off Route 100. Our group will be staying in a heated lodge with separate accommodations for male JB and chaperones\, and for female JB and chaperones. The lodge has bunk bed-style sleeping configuration. \n  \nHelp make CMC possible by being a chaperone! CISV rules require one chaperone for every eight youth. Chaperoning is a very low-key way for adults to see what the kids actually do at CISV (and it’s super easy\, because the JB board plans all the activities). Chaperones must be over 21 and have background checks (download the forms here) on file with the chapter. If you’d like to chaperone or have questions about the background checks\, please contact Heather Simon. \nChaperone shifts are as follows:\nFriday\, 6:00 pm – Saturday\, 2:30 pm (Saturday breakfast & lunch included)\nand/or Saturday\, 2:00 pm – Sunday\, 11:00 am (Saturday dinner & Sunday breakfast included)\nChaperones are FREE! and encouraged to come and watch their child learn about CISV.  Thank you.\nChaperone Registration is at the bottom of this web page.\n \n  \nRegistration fee: $199.   The deadline to register at this price is January 4th.  The fee covers 2 nights of lodging\, 4 meals (Saturday breakfast through Sunday breakfast)\, and a camp t-shirt!! \nThe late registration fee is $215 and closes on January 11th.  We cannot guarantee a t-shirt for registrations during this period. \nA $20 discount will be applied for each additional registration within the same household. \nSchedule:\n \n\nCheck-in is on Friday\, January 19th\, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. (Please let us know if you will be arriving late.)\n\nNOTE: No dinner is served on Friday night.\n\n\nPick-up is on Sunday at 11:00 am. PLEASE BE PROMPT.\n\nWhat to bring: \n\nCold weather clothing (warm jacket\, boots if needed)\nComfy clothes\nRunning shoes for games/activities\nReusable water bottle\nToiletries/medicines\nSleeping bag/pillow or twin bed linens (required or fee will be assessed)\nTowel\nRequired forms – see below\nDietary needs?  We will do our best to accommodate special diet requests (please indicate on registration form)\, but recommend that those with special dietary needs bring along their own supplemental FOOD and/or SNACKS.\n\nDo not bring laptops or expensive clothes/gadgets. Note that cell phone and tablet use will not be permitted by participants during the activities – and can only be used during free time. \n  \nHow to Register: \n\nEach participant must be a member of any CISV chapter.  Register here to become a member.  Register below for Chapter Mini-Camp.  Payment is made through PayPal.\nEach participant must also complete the Youth-Legal-Form – 2023 CMC. This form requires the signature of both the participant and a parent.  Bring this completed form and a copy of your health insurance coverage to the camp.\nCovid Protocol:  Per CISV International guidelines\, all participants must bring proof of negative test taken within 24 hours of camp check-in.  With the understanding that the COVID landscape remains in flux and our policies surrounding COVID may need to change throughout the year\, until further notice BV is currently MASK OPTIONAL for our meetings and in-person activities\, including CMC. If you don’t feel well or have been exposed to COVID\, please stay home.\n\nBe sure to bring the Youth Legal Form with you to camp. You must bring it in order to participate!  We will send a reminder email with the directions to the camp site a few days before the event. \n  \nContact information and questions:  \nGeneral questions: Email Steven Simon.\nDuring camp: We will send a contact name and number before camp begins. \n\nIf you can chaperone\, please return to this page after completing the junior branch registration. \n \n\n \n \n Attend BV Mini-Camp\n \n "*" indicates required fields \n \n Parent/Guardian Name*Parent/Guardian Cell Number*Parent/Guardian Email Address*\n \n Number of Participants*123Participant #1 - Full Name*Participant #1 - Birthday*\n \n MM slash DD slash YYYY\n \n Participant #1 - Email Address*\n \n Participant #1 - Please list any dietary restrictionsParticipant #1 - Please list any allergies or other health restrictionsParticipant #1 - T-shirt Size*\n \n Youth Mediium\n \n \n Youth Large\n \n \n Adult Small\n \n \n Adult Medium\n \n \n Adult Large\n \n \n Adult Extra Large\n Participant #2 RegistrationParticipant #2 - Full Name*Participant #2 - Birthday*\n \n MM slash DD slash YYYY\n \n Participant #2 - Email Address*\n \n Participant #2 - Please list any dietary restrictionsParticipant #2 - Please list any allergies or other health restrictionsParticipant #2 - T-shirt Size*\n \n Youth Medium\n \n \n Youth Large\n \n \n Adult Small\n \n \n Adult Medium\n \n \n Adult Large\n \n \n Adult Extra Large\n Participant #3 RegistrationParticipant #3 - Full Name*Participant #3 - Birthday*\n \n MM slash DD slash YYYY\n \n Participant #3 - Email Address*\n \n Participant #3 - Please list any dietary restrictionsParticipant #3 - Please list any allergies or other health restrictionsParticipant #3 - T-shirt Size*\n \n Youth Medium\n \n \n Youth Large\n \n \n Adult Small\n \n \n Adult Medium\n \n \n Adult Large\n \n \n Adult Extra Large\n Check outTotal for CMC Registration\n \n \n Price:\n $585.00\n \n \n \n After submitting this registration\, you'll be asked for payment. SUMMARY:"I Am Eleven" Screening
DESCRIPTION:Do you remember when you were eleven years old? \nDo you wonder what it’s like to be a kid in other parts of the world? \nOur flagship program\, Village\, is for 11-year-olds; thus it was only natural for us to hold a screening for I Am Eleven documentary that focuses on that age group.\nBring your family and friends to this free screening and discussion of “I Am Eleven\,” an award-winning film (and New York Times Critics’ Pick)! \n“I Am Eleven” explores the lives and thoughts of children from fifteen countries\, weaving together deeply personal and at times hilarious snapshots of what it means to be at this transitional age. In this insightful\, funny\, and moving documentary portrait of childhood\, young minds provide us with a powerful insight into the future of our world. CISV believes we can have a global impact on our world and that the best place to start is with the children. \nPlease register above\, so we know you are attending.\nSunday\, 13 November\, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.\nChester County Library and District Center\n450 Exton Square Parkway\, Exton\, Pennsylvania 19341 \nWe encourage you to share this information with others – download our flyer below.

SUMMARY:Earth Day Sidewalk Chalk Event
DESCRIPTION:Brandywine Valley CISV is participating in a Sidewalk Chalk Event sponsored by the West Chester Green Team and West Chester University.   This event is to raise awareness about Earth Day and sustainability efforts in general.   This is a great event to meet people and talk to them about CISV! \nThe whole day is 9 am – 5 pm on Friday\, April 22nd (Earth Day) with a rain date of April 23rd. Our organization will be assigned an approved site in front of businesses/organizations in the West Chester Borough. At 11 am\, at WCU\, there will be an unveiling of WC Green Team’s yard sign for ’22 and presentation of awards\, at the corner of S. High St. and University Ave.  Between 11 am and 5 pm\, attendees can stroll up and down S. and N. High St.\, from University Ave to Marshall St.\, to admire chalking on environmental themes by local organizations and WCU students. \nSpecifically\,  we are looking for a few volunteers to help with the chalk art from 9 am-11 am\, artistic talent is a plus but not required!   We would also like a few any time  from 11 am – 5 pm to man the chalk art location to talk to any passers by who are admiring the artwork.  We will supply chalk and BV CISV materials.  Volunteer for as little or as much as you can spare.  Please RSVP.  \nAs this is a school day\, it will be difficult for JBers to participate (they are of course welcome) but anyone with a little free-time in the day\, please consider this!  Janet is looking for some alumni to participate! \n  \n
