DESCRIPTION:It is COOKIE TIME! \nDeadline to register is December 17th. \nPlease join the JB in a fun virtual baking event! \nWhat – Virtual Cookie-A-Thon! We will be baking cookies together (virtually) and giving them all to Valley Youth House. After the cookie baking\, we will have a mini-activity for the JB\, too! \nWhat cookies should I bake? This is the link to the chocolate chip cookies that most people will be baking\, but here is a link to a gluten free option as well. If you really want to make a different kind of cookie\, you are absolutely free to do so but please make sure it is nut free (very important!) and takes about 45 minutes to cook so you can join the activity we have planned for after with everyone else. \n\nWhy – It’s important to think of everyone this holiday season during such a difficult year and giving back to our local community is a great way to do so. \nWhen – December 19\, 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm \nWho – Anyone who registers! Parents/guardians are welcome to participate in the cookie baking portion\, but will be asked to leave when we transition into our JB-only activity after the first hour of baking. \nWhere is the link for this event? This event will be taking place on Discord (not Zoom)! If you haven’t already downloaded Discord\, here is the link to download it. If you haven’t already joined BV’s channel\, here is the link to join. If you have any questions or concerns about Discord\, feel free to reach out! \nWhat do we do with the cookies when we’re done? You will be dropping them off at Sylvia’s house (127 Princeton Road Exton PA 19341) and she will make sure all of them get to Valley Youth House by 11am the next morning. Both sewn and non-sewn CDC approved mask patterns will be provided\, but feel free to use a different\, safe sewing pattern if you want to. We are asking participants to use approved materials that may already be in your closet (clothing\, scrap fabric\, sheet etc). \nWHEN:  \nSunday\, April 11\, 2021; 1 to 3 pm. \nWHERE: \nZoom! Information will be sent out to everyone after registration closes. \nAll members of BV are encouraged to participate (adults and JBers)\, but after the actual mask making\, we will have a JB only discussion. SUMMARY:Earth Day Sidewalk Chalk Event
DESCRIPTION:Brandywine Valley CISV is participating in a Sidewalk Chalk Event sponsored by the West Chester Green Team and West Chester University.   This event is to raise awareness about Earth Day and sustainability efforts in general.   This is a great event to meet people and talk to them about CISV! \nThe whole day is 9 am – 5 pm on Friday\, April 22nd (Earth Day) with a rain date of April 23rd. Our organization will be assigned an approved site in front of businesses/organizations in the West Chester Borough. At 11 am\, at WCU\, there will be an unveiling of WC Green Team’s yard sign for ’22 and presentation of awards\, at the corner of S. High St. and University Ave.  Between 11 am and 5 pm\, attendees can stroll up and down S. and N. High St.\, from University Ave to Marshall St.\, to admire chalking on environmental themes by local organizations and WCU students. \nSpecifically\,  we are looking for a few volunteers to help with the chalk art from 9 am-11 am\, artistic talent is a plus but not required!   We would also like a few any time  from 11 am – 5 pm to man the chalk art location to talk to any passers by who are admiring the artwork.  We will supply chalk and BV CISV materials.  Volunteer for as little or as much as you can spare.  Please RSVP.  \nAs this is a school day\, it will be difficult for JBers to participate (they are of course welcome) but anyone with a little free-time in the day\, please consider this!  Janet is looking for some alumni to participate! \n  \n

The last two years have been tough\, and we are excited to return to doing in-person CISV stuff with our friends from other chapters! \nWHO?\nFive CISV chapters: Brandywine Valley (host)\, New York\, Washington DC\, Philadelphia\, and Pittsburgh \nWHAT?\nCISVers coming together at RMC to make new friends\, work toward building a more just and peaceful work\, and have fun! \nWHEN?\nMemorial Day Weekend!\nCheck in: Saturday\, May 28\, 1 p.m. (after lunch); camp activities start at 2 p.m.\nCheck out: Monday\, May 30\, 10 a.m. (after breakfast) \nWHERE?\nInnabah Camp and Retreat Center\, Spring City PA (about 45 northeast of Philly) \nHOW?\nRegister below. The cost for RMC (including meals) is $150. The registration deadline is May 14. \nNote: Each participating chapter must provide its own chaperones\, following the 6:1 ratio required by CISV. SUMMARY:CISV in Motion - Save the Date!
DESCRIPTION:CISV National will hold its annual National Board Meeting (NBM)\, the National Youth Board Meeting (NYBM)\, and the CISV In Motion Conference from October 14th to the 16th in Pittsburg\, PA. \n\nThe NYBM has a maximum of ten youth participants per chapter. The Brandywine Valley Junior Branch by-laws specify that the JB president and JB vice-president shall have two slots as this meeting is for JB leadership activities and leadership education. The other eight slots shall be awarded on a first come basis to any interested JB member ages 13+. \nAdult Members\, the CISV In Motion Conference starts on Friday\, the 14th\, and is open to all. The conference is full of workshops\, activities and socializing with the greater CISV USA organization. All 21 chapters send representatives. It’s informative and fun!
