Not even a downpour could dampen the spirits of those arriving at our first ever Mid-Atlantic Regional Mini Camp!
Held at our very own Refreshing Mountain Camp, the two-day camp included all the CISV traditions, from lullabies to flag time. The Local Junior Representatives (LJRs) of the Brandywine Valley, District of Columbia, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh chapters planned an amazing dinosaur-themed camp, with incredible activities, of course!
Activities touched on topics such as civic responsibility, land rights, and mental health. For example, we played a modified version of dodgeball in which the losing team at the end of each round consistently lost territory, making it extremely difficult to regain standing. In the debrief, we discussed the value (both tangible and intangible) of land and property and to what extent the acquisition of land is just.
As a camp, we bonded over deep activities like these, and we quickly became friends. Thank you to everyone who made this mini camp happen, including the LJRs, chaperones, and participants.
It was dino-mite!
