Dear Brandywine Valley CISV Families,
We wanted to let you know what has been happening within CISV as the COVID-19 strain of coronavirus has continued to spread across the world and has begun to impact daily life at home. At all levels within the organization, we’ve been monitoring the situation and are making decisions about which events are safe to continue running.
At the International level, all international camps run during the month of April have been cancelled, as have the Regional Training Forums. No decisions have been made about the upcoming June-August summer camps as those are further out and it’s difficult to tell whether these programs can be implemented safely. The National and International Risk Management Teams are developing a Coronavirus Crisis Protocol, and we expect to hear more regarding this soon.
CISV USA has cancelled the upcoming March Chapter Development in Detroit and the Staff Training in Dallas. Fortunately, BV members were able to attend the local Chapter Development Workshop a couple of weeks ago, so we should not be impacted by the CDW cancellations. The Staff training is being rescheduled. If other national events are cancelled, we will directly notify those people who are registered.
At the BV Chapter level, we decided to
· Cancel the Regional MiniCamp that was scheduled for the end of March. Refunds will be processed, but must be requested by March 20th. Please contact me if you have not heard from the RMC committee about the refund
· Cancel the April 2nd JB Meeting and Adult Meeting due to a ban of outside groups at Fugett Middle School.
We will update you via email and on the website regarding any other cancellations.
As of now, we are still planning to host our Step Up this summer in Lancaster, and we are working with Risk Management to assess whether this can continue to be held safely.
We understand that the uncertainty of the next few months is very stressful, but ask everyone to be patient as we navigate this uncharted territory. If you have any questions, ideas, or concerns, please reach out to me at the email address below.
President, BV Chapter CISV
