This summer, BV hosted a two-week Youth Meeting for 30 delegates (12- and 13-year olds) from countries including Brazil, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Norway, and the US (Denver). BV Board Member Catherine Clinton managed all the planning and logistics for this camp, which was a huge amount of work for the preceding 12 months! Thanks to her diligence, it was an incredibly successful camp.
The camp theme was Conflict and Resolution with a focus on Environmental Conflicts. The delegates and leaders enjoyed two excursions – one to the Lancaster Barnstormer baseball game (a bit of a rainout, but a blast nonetheless!) and the other to Philadelphia where they visited the Franklin Institute and went to Chinatown for dinner.
A special thank you to Camp Director, Ellen Rodowsky, and her four Super Staff – Erika Kotroba, JB-alum Emily Doris, Trygg Stokke (who was Norway Leader for our Step Up two years ago!), and Junior Staff Claudia Knapp! One of the best-run camps we’ve ever had!
We’d also like to thank the following families who volunteered their homes, their time, food and supplies, and general support as we hosted 30 kids from around the world:Bavusos, Bitners, Brofka-Berends, Buenos, Collins, Daniels, Farnums, Grossmen, Hendersons, Jaekles, Klenners, Knapps, Mansers, Mobeds, Morrisseys, Munzes, Niilers, Reynolds, Rush, Shepherds, Shryocks, Simons, Tapadinhas, Tenlens, Weiners, and Wentzes.
